One Catalog for Live and On-Demand: Aviion Previews Its Unified OTT Platform at IBC2026

New library-driven channels let media operators run a 24/7 linear stream from existing content, with no encoder and no playout hardware, and a real-time "live now" state that stays correct across every screen.

Aviion will preview the next generation of its white-label OTT and streaming platform at IBC2026, showing a single model that presents live and on-demand video in one branded catalog and keeps every viewer correctly informed, in real time, of what is upcoming, live or ended.

If you've read our post on hybrid streaming, you know the argument: the best platforms don't feel like two services stitched together, they feel like one. This release is that argument shipped as product.

The centerpiece: a 24/7 channel with no control room

The highlight of the preview is a new way to run linear television. Aviion's 24/7 Library Channel lets an operator build a round-the-clock channel entirely from videos it already owns: programmed like a playlist and steered live while on air, with no live encoder, no playout hardware and no control room.

Operators can reorder the running order on the fly, skip or jump to any item in about two seconds, and pause and resume from the same point. A mandatory fallback loops automatically whenever the playlist is empty or paused, so the channel never goes to black, and it auto-recovers if a component restarts.

For years, launching a linear channel meant a serious hardware and staffing commitment, which put it out of reach for exactly the operators who could benefit most: broadcasters with deep archives, sports clubs with seasons of footage, educators with course libraries. A library channel turns that existing catalog into always-on programming, and always-on programming into the retention and ad inventory we've written about across this blog.

Four broadcast forms, one viewer experience

The library channel is one of four broadcast forms on the platform:

Live channels and live events fed by an operator's encoder. Scheduled premieres of finished files shown as live moments. And library-driven 24/7 channels. All of them reach viewers through the same experience.

Underpinning them is a single live-status source that reduces everything to one viewer-facing state: upcoming, live or ended. That state reaches every screen within seconds and without a page refresh, so a title flips to "Live" for all viewers the moment it starts, and viewers cannot press play on something that is not actually broadcasting. Because a single source drives that state everywhere, the storefront, the countdown and the play button always agree. An operator never has to set "live" by hand or hope a schedule matches reality.

"For years, running a linear channel meant playout hardware and a control room, and 'is it live yet?' was something storefronts routinely got wrong," said Ivan Dobranović, Head of AV Solutions & System at Aviion. "Aviion treats live and on-demand as one thing, so an operator can turn a library into a 24/7 channel, steer it on the fly, and every viewer sees the right state the moment it changes."

The foundation stays the same

Every operator on Aviion gets full brand isolation: its own web address, storefront and catalog, never mixed with anyone else's, along with curation tools for shelves, hero banners, artwork, multi-language descriptions, age ratings, per-country availability and scheduled publishing.

Video is delivered as adaptive HLS and DASH for any device and protected with multi-DRM (Widevine, PlayReady and FairPlay) from a single encrypted copy; readers of our security deep dive will recognize the approach.

See it live at IBC2026

The new modules are in pre-release. At IBC2026 in Amsterdam this September, the Aviion team will run guided previews at stand 1.D18, Hall 1, walking visitors from curating a catalog through to running a premiere or a 24/7 channel, and watching the live state update in real time across screens.

If you're attending IBC and planning a streaming service, or rethinking one, come by, or book a slot with our team in advance so we can tailor the walkthrough to your catalog and use case.
